Whether you sail, fish, paddle or power through our waters, we welcome you. Membership in the Sequim Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) is open to all and no previous boating experience (or boat) is required. The purpose of this club is to promote and encourage safe boating, fellowship and camaraderie among the members, as well as to provide leadership in our club’s sailing, cruising and rowing programs. There are no requirements other than an interest in recreational boating, boat safety, and the enjoyment of water related activities. We plan to sail/cruise/boat and row in the many recreational boating rendezvous’ and regatta opportunities throughout the year.

SBYC has an active schedule of cruises from Spring to Fall that are designed to accommodate boats with varying cruising speeds. The Sail Fleet schedules races year round. From April to early September, the “Duck Dodge” races take place on Sequim Bay on Thursday evenings. Throughout the year there are also races on Saturdays. In 2015, we developed a Family Small Boat program. It combines classroom and on-the-water instruction in Flying Scot dinghies to teach the basics of sailing. In 2016 we launched a successful and active daily rowing program. We are presently using three ‘quads’ and a single rowing shell and members with their own boats are encouraged to join in the rows. Expansion plans are for more training boats and more ‘Learn to Row’ sessions for interested area rowers. There are opportunities for eventual participation in regattas and race events as we gain experience and confidence in this new boating field.

We have one of the best coastal cruising areas in the nation.  Spring, Summer and Fall cruises are planned for Club members leaving John Wayne Marina in Sequim that include trips south into Puget Sound and Hood Canal and destinations north which include the San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound.  Our beautiful cruising area is more often referred to as the “Salish Sea”.

Our regular member meetings are held generally every second Wednesday of the month at our ‘club room’ at the John Wayne Marina on West Sequim Bay Road.  A Social Hour begins at 6:30 pm.  Meetings begin at 7:30 pm.

Join us in a wide variety of activities.
